How it works
You choose the layout. Shoji does the arranging.
Picked in Shoji’s menu, or with ⌃⌥⌘1–4.
Features
Built for how you actually work.
Focusing, presenting, switching, sharing.
Focus mode
One window fills the screen. Press it again and every window goes back exactly where it was.
⌃⌥ZCustomize
Your Mac, your style.
Borders, spacing, colors, even the icon.
Good defaults from the first second. Change anything here and the screen follows, the same as on your Mac.
Compare
macOS can tile.
Shoji keeps it tidy.
The tiling built into macOS places a window when you drag it there. Shoji arranges every window, all the time, so you never have to.

The app
Which Macs does it work on?
Any Mac running macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
Does it work with more than one display?
Yes. Each display gets its own layout, and ⌃⌥ + arrow past the edge of a screen sends the active window to the next one.
Can I keep an app out of the layout?
Yes. Open the menu-bar panel while the app is in front and turn off “Tile” for it. Dialogs, sheets and panels are never tiled.
What about apps that won’t get small?
Shoji learns the smallest size an app accepts, moves the split lines to make room, and floats the window in the middle when it can’t fit. That list stays on your Mac.
Does it work with Stage Manager?
Stage Manager arranges windows its own way, so Shoji pauses while it’s on and picks up again when you turn it off.
Can I pause it?
Any time, with the switch in the menu-bar panel. Your windows stay where they are.
Privacy and security
Is Shoji safe to install?
Yes. Shoji is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple: before it reaches you, Apple scans it for malware and confirms who made it. macOS checks that seal when you open it, so you won’t see an “unidentified developer” warning.
Why does it need Accessibility access?
macOS only lets an app move and resize other apps’ windows once you allow it under Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Shoji uses that access to position windows, nothing more, and walks you through turning it on.
Can Shoji see what’s in my windows?
No. It works with each window’s position and size, and which app it belongs to. No screenshots, no document contents, and window titles are never saved.
Does it read what I type?
No. Its shortcuts are registered with macOS, which tells Shoji only when one of its own key combinations is pressed, never anything else you type.
Does it send my data anywhere?
No. Everything happens on your Mac and Shoji works offline. It only goes online to check your license key and to look for updates, and neither sends anything about your windows, apps or how you use it.
Are updates safe?
Each update is signed, so Shoji only installs updates that really come from us, and it asks before installing anything.
Buying and your license
Can I try it before buying?
Not yet. Try the live demo at the top of this page instead, and if Shoji isn’t for you, write to us within 7 days of buying for a full refund.
How many Macs can I use it on?
One, or two with the two-Mac license. Moving to a new Mac? Deactivate it in Settings › License on the old one, then enter your key on the new one. If the old Mac is gone, write to us and we’ll free it up.
I lost my license key.
It’s in the email Dodo Payments sent with your receipt. Can’t find it? Write to support.shoji.mac@gmail.com from the address you bought with.
Why isn’t it on the Mac App Store?
The Mac App Store only takes sandboxed apps, and Shoji isn’t sandboxed so it can manage other apps’ windows. You buy it straight from this site instead; payments are handled by Dodo Payments.
